Meet Beep, my new Shopify app!

The last few years I've been focusing a lot on reducing the time spent on my phone. I don't have any SoMe apps installed, I only get the absolutely necessary notifications, and I use a VPN to block all sites I might visit to kill time between waking up and 12 PM.

The result is that I feel a lot better. I'm a lot more present with people, I’m less addicted to phone, and I’m not as easily distracted while working. It’s amazing how boring a phone is when its just a phone.

But the one habit I couldn't get rid of was checking our sales, whether in Shopify or Lifetimely, a million times per day. Sales FOMO on full blast. I've uninstalled the Shopify app, and Ive tried blocking Lifetimely, too. But in the end I want to follow our sales, albeit in a more healthy way.

Therefore, I built a small Shopify app to fix this. It’s simple: the app sends you up to four SMS’s daily with sales data. Here's how I currently use it:

• 7 AM: Update on yesterday's sales

• 12 PM, 5PM, and 9 PM: Update on today's sales

The SMS includes sales, no. of orders and no. of new customers. I’m working on adding Google and Meta ad spend as well as NCAC. Here’s a real example:

Why SMS? Because with an SMS, there's no risk of getting distracted by an email or a Slack message from a colleague. You simply get an a sales update with no risk of being distracted.
