Product Page Teardown
I reviewed Woodpeckers Craft's product page.
Here are 10 easy, low-code changes I would make to increase their conversion rate:
(I wouldn't be surprised if this would result in an instant +25% CR increase)
1: Remove the blue product title banner on desktop.
It doesn't bring anything extra to the visitor that isn't in the product title. So it's just a waste of space.
2: Delete the "Specs tab"
The "Specs" tab doesn't include much - at least not for this product. So I would put the info in the product title and remove the tab entirely. Add some other VPs to bring it home and improve SEO:
'2" Smooth and Perfectly Round Wood Ball from Birch Hardwood.'
3: Want to keep the "Specs" tab? Move it.
It can make sense to keep the "Specs" tab to keep the site consistent. If so, put it below the ATC button with the rest of the tabs on mobile and tablets.
By having it alone above, people may think there isn't any more information because it's "hidden" below the ATC button.
4: Remove the social sharing buttons.
You want people to stay on your site and buy. You don't want them to go to social media and share. If they do, they're not coming back. Social media are designed to keep attention.
Also, delete the dividing line. It doesn't bring value.
5: Make the add-to-cart button larger
Make the add-to-cart button much larger, and make the text larger and bolder.
6: Test removing the "TrustedSite" badge
I would test removing the "TrustedSite" badge. I don't know what it means, so I don't expect any visitor to know. But I might be ignorant, so make sure to test it.
7: Write out the shipping and returns info
Don't hide the shipping and returns info. Just shorten it and write it out:
"Free standard shipping above $75 in the US. Free returns available."
There's no point in saving space and creating friction for such a small amount of text.
8: Be selective about what products to offer the "Compare Size" AR experience.
In general, it's great to offer these AR experiences! But I'm not sure it brings value to someone buying round wood balls. So it's just taking up space and cluttering the site.
9: State the 1-piece price
Write the 1-piece price in the "normal" spot on the page. Don't keep it solely in the volume discount chart. If visitors miss this and don't see a price, they instantly leave.
10: Emphasize volume discounts more
As a final note, emphasize the volume discounts as much as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if Woodpeckers Craft's has many large-volume orders from other retailers.
